Why Eco-Friendly Toys Are the best Choice for Your Cavoodle

As a cavoodle mum, I know how easy it is to love their cheeky & charming personalities.  Whether they’re doing zoomies around the backyard or gnawing on a toy during a lazy arvo, their playtime needs to be safe and engaging but it can also be kind to the planet.

Why Safe Toys Matters for Your Cavoodle

It is easy to buy cheap toys in department stores and online and let's face it, how do you say no to your oodle when you are in a pet store and they fall in love with a cute toy. I mean talk about, manipulation with those cute eyes! But giving them safe toys matters for several reasons:

  1. Safer Chewing: Cavoodles adore chewing, and it’s a natural need. But plastic toys can break, shed bits, or leach unwanted chemicals. However, toys made from things like Coffee wood are made to splinter down into soft, digestible chips so it is much less risky.

  2. No Weird Smells or Mess: No stinky bones or messy bits of fluff everywhere, just clean, carefree play.

  3. Kind to the Planet: Eco-conscious Aussies will appreciate toys that repurpose other products, don’t use plastics and are friendly to our earth.

Different Types of Eco-Friendly Toys Your Cavoodle Will Love

  • Coffee Wood Chews – Long-lasting and great for teeth cleaning. Take a look at these ones from Consious Pet

  • Organic Cotton Rope Toys – Perfect for tug games or a gentle chew.

  • Natural Rubber Balls – Bouncy and durable without synthetic nasties. Check out our balls here

  • Hemp or Jute Tug Toys – Strong, biodegradable fibres for serious tuggers.

  • Wool or Felt Toys – Soft, gentle, and ideal for indoor fetch.

  • Upcycled Fabric Toys – Made from off-cuts or recycled textiles.

  • Snuffle Mats (Hemp or Cotton) – Stimulate their brain while hiding treats. These are our faves (of course)

  • Recycled Rubber Frisbees – Flexible and gentler on mouths than hard plastic.

Toys That Can Be Potentially Dangerous for Small Dogs

Even with the best intentions, some toys can be risky for a small breed like a Cavoodle. These are toys we would avoid :

  • Hard Nylon Bones – Can crack small teeth or cause gum damage.

  • Small Balls – Anything small enough to fit entirely in their mouth is a choking hazard.

  • Cheap Plush Toys with Loose Parts – Button eyes, plastic noses, or squeakers can be swallowed.

  • Thin Rope Toys – If they fray, strands can be ingested and cause blockages.

  • Brittle Plastic Toys – Break into sharp pieces that can cut mouths or be swallowed.

  • Rawhide Chews – Can swell when wet, causing choking or digestive issues. And rawhide is poisonouse so always stear clear from it.

  • Tennis Balls – The abrasive outer layer can wear down teeth over time. And some cavoodles love to tear the outer material off, causing issues with choking.
